The residency has a focus on Africa and within Africa outside the realm of its big economies. More a place of rest thought and production within the informal economies of the city of Bombay supporting our exhibition program that is tuned towards the extension of the Black Arts Movement. The residency is entirely free and not based on paid appointments. The residency creates an environment of engagement with our audience and a dialogue that extends away from our geography. It works with the Mithila Bhavan Akahara and the Kashid Cottages that become artist retreats at times. Contributions to space's programming such as exhibitions, talks and performances are manifestations through the program. We do rent the residency to passers-by in between residencies. We work closely with Raw Material Company , Knots Baroda, Scandinavian Arts Council , Polish Institute and Institut Francais to invite future residents. The Residency is funded by the Foundation For Arts Initiatives , New York and Krishna Reddy Foundation.
